day 77 of (us)

'like a welcome summer rain, humor may suddenly cleanse and cool the earth, the air and you. '
~Langston Hughes

thought of the moment: i've grown up in seattle all my life. i've lived with the rain. at first i hated it. it rains way too much in seattle. it gets cold and windy whenever the rain comes around. how long does it last usually? sometimes for ten minutes, then the sun comes out for only a minute, and the rain comes back again. or it might go on for days, weeks, it hasn't gone for a month yet or else there would be a flood. i would get sick because of the rain, sniffling and coughing. but then as i got older, i gradually fell in love with the rain.
during the winter, rain means snow in the mountains meaning ski season. during stressful times, the sound of the rain soothes me. when i wake up to the sound of rain, it brightens my day. it erases the stress from the previous night. i get to bundle up warmly in my blanket, knowing that i have slept well. even though the droplets of the rain tingles my skin, it sweeps away the sorrows of my life.
